An intensive retreat designed specifically for young Sikh men

The Framework

Two Pillars.
One Identity.

Miri-Piri Leadership Retreat — the lion mark
01
Miri
Reflect
Critical thinking grounded in Gurmat wisdom. Boys debate real, consequential questions — developing the reasoning, courage, and civic confidence to lead. The Sikh tradition has always held that the strongest arguments are rooted in something larger than ego or victory.

02
Piri
Act
Spiritual strength and physical discipline as one — because the Gurus never separated them. Adventure leadership at Bradford Woods, Japji Sahib hikes at dawn, Kirtan under the stars, and night games that forge the brotherhood that carries well past the weekend.

Miri · The Intellectual Core

Debate as a
Sikh Practice.

Debate at MPLR isn't about winning. It's about developing the reasoning and courage to engage the world with conviction — grounded in the Gurmat principle that truth-seeking is the point.

Teams are assigned six weeks before the retreat. Final debates are Monday morning — families welcome.

MOVE.
LEAD.
REFLECT.

The Gurus never separated physical strength from spiritual practice. Neither do we. From Japji Sahib hikes at dawn to IU-designed leadership challenges in the afternoon, every hour outside is intentional — building the brotherhood and the inner resolve that debate alone cannot.

The Weekend

Three Days.
Designed to Change You.

A full day isn't just debate. It isn't just movement. It's all of it—woven together so that every strength has a moment to shine.

Each evening closes with Roots & Reflection — a dedicated block for grounding the day's debates and activities in Bani, Sikh history, and the deeper philosophy of Miri-Piri. And each retreat features a Veer Ji Speaker — a values-aligned Sikh leader close enough in age to feel like a veer, far enough ahead to show what's possible.

Built by a
Sikh Family.

This retreat wasn't designed by a committee. It was built by a mom and her two sons who saw a gap—and decided to fill it.

Oct 2026

We're not looking for the loudest voice in the room. We're looking for boys who are curious, committed, and ready to grow—across both pillars of Miri-Piri.

How would you like to respond?

Choose whichever feels most like you — both are equally valued.

Question 1 of 2
What does being a leader mean to you? What from Sikhi influences how you think about leadership?
No right answer. No perfect Sikh story required. Just be real.
Question 2 of 2
Can you share a time when you helped motivate a friend, sibling, or classmate to achieve a goal?
This can be big or small — we're looking for how you show up for the people around you.

One more thing
Have you had any experience with debate or public speaking?
All levels welcome — including brand new. We form teams and run sessions based on age and experience, so every participant leaves more confident forming arguments about issues that matter.

About You

Traveling to Indiana?
The retreat is a youth-only experience. If you are traveling from out of town, we will arrange on-site lodging at Bradford Woods for accompanying adults — no need to book separately. We'll also plan a relaxed, loosely structured opportunity for parents to connect over the weekend. Enrollment fee is $325 per youth, inclusive of all meals, lodging, and programming.
